I’m fascinated by izzzzi, an un-social network where friends can communicate to their “network” once a day, and the posts of all the people you “follow” are collated every morning into a newspaper.
There is no algorithmically generated list of people you should follow. You put in your friend’s username. They put in yours. You get each other’s posts. If you want to know if your friend is using the platform, you will need to ask them using a different platform (or the platform that is your mouth, when you ask them in person).
It’s microblogging to the extreme (nanoblogging?), and it purposefully reduces the scope of the internet to your group of friends.
If someone comes across this post, at some point, my username is metronomica. Feel free to share yours with me at me AT metronomica DOT blog. See you there.
