Sometimes I want to learn a new thing or a new tool and push myself. Sometimes I want to luxuriate in the familiar.
Today felt like the latter:
This track is short and it’s still. I purposely didn’t do much to the sounds once I made them. The sum total of performance here is me pushing the master volume fader up, and then down.
I used the iPad, as I have been doing this month, and the programs and plugins I have also been using. There’s samples and reverbs. It’s nothing groundbreaking, nor does it need to be today.
To say that the past 18 months have been hectic would be a vast, nigh-offensive understatement. I have had experiences I could have never imagined. There were terrible moments as well as moments of incredible, blinding light. My frame of reference for what a person in this world can go through has been blown open. It has been unbelievably loud.
Tomorrow it is going to snow at least six inches, which for where I am is a pretty good amount. It’s going to force quiet to my house and the homes around me, blanketing roads and cars in white. There’s a stillness in the air and I am happy to feel it.
